In Ontario Brite, Xtendex, CPI Plastics ( Eon ) have all folded recently. The composite decking industry seems to have some issues of late.
.
The possibility of composite companies going under and not being there to honor these long term warrantee promises has to be considered when purchasing or building a composite deck.
.
I'd love to say they will be missed--however it just wasn't a good composite product and we simply refused to carry it. I'll leave you with this photo of an Eon Deck built by a client, (yes, I was there to plan the replacement with real decking).

I too built a Eon deck. Looks just like this one after 2 years. And yes, no one will call back. Same company is still in business, same people running it, still have provisions to contact someone. They just don't return calls or emails. I would not buy a product from CPI no mater what it was. I especially would not buy any kind of composite decking. Composites and the Sun just don't seem to get along.
I have eon decking as well and will never buy from this company due to the poor quality. They will not or have not yet got back to me. This material was maintainance free. It not only looks terrible but there is something in the material that the squirrels like because they are eating the heck out of it. Any suggestions???
Hi Peggy... they didn't even go bankrupt. They just liquidated it. I don't know anyone with parts. You may want to bite the bullet and put proper decking on it. Kiln dried western red cedar works really well if you pre-finish it. Check out our article on www.gardenstructure.com to learn how to finish like a pro. The other one to look at is tigerdeck. A kiln dried hardwood.
